What it is
A broad-spectrum mitochondrial and metabolic support formula - NOT a simple CoQ10/PQQ product. The real label is a comprehensive multi: a full activated B-complex plus antioxidant minerals, anchored by a stack of mitochondrial actives - N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC), Acetyl-L-Carnitine (MitoCarn®), R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, and malic acid - with polyphenols (green tea EGCG, broccoli seed extract/TrueBroc®, trans-resveratrol). 4 capsules per serving.
⚠️ CORRECTED 2026-06-09 from the actual product label (image HavenSupplements-24-Editcopy.png). The previous entry described Mitomax as "Ubiquinol CoQ10 + PQQ + Acetyl-L-Carnitine." The real label shows no CoQ10 and no PQQ - the mitochondrial actives are NAC, ALCAR (MitoCarn), R-ALA, and malic acid. ALCAR is the only carryover from the old description. The dense panel was re-verified against high-resolution label crops 2026-06-09 - this corrected ten values that an earlier pass had wrong (Biotin 50 not 500 mcg, Calcium 75 not 45 mg, Magnesium 75 not 5 mg, Chromium 50 not 35 mcg, Sodium 20 not 35 mg, Potassium 30 not 35 mg, Zinc confirmed 5 mg, Malic Acid 215 not 270 mg, Green Tea 45 not 40 mg, trans-Resveratrol 10 not 15 mg). Values now match the physical label. What each ingredient does (mechanism)
- N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) - rate-limiting precursor for glutathione, the cell's master antioxidant; supports mitochondrial redox balance and detoxification.
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine (MitoCarn®) - shuttles long-chain fatty acyl-CoA across the inner mitochondrial membrane via the CPT-I/II system (rate-limiting for β-oxidation). Crosses the BBB more efficiently than plain carnitine; in brain it donates acetyl groups for acetyl-CoA and acetylcholine synthesis. Rationale for age-related cognitive/energy use. Mildly stimulating in many users.
- R-Alpha Lipoic Acid - mitochondrial cofactor (pyruvate dehydrogenase) and a recycler of other antioxidants (vitamin C/E, glutathione); supports glucose metabolism.
- Malic Acid - Krebs-cycle intermediate that feeds directly into ATP production.
- Activated B-complex (Quatrefolic folate + methyl-B12 + the rest) - cofactors across energy metabolism and methylation.
- Polyphenols (EGCG, sulforaphane precursor from TrueBroc® broccoli seed, resveratrol) - Nrf2-pathway antioxidant and cellular-defense support.
Used for
Adults with age-related fatigue or cognitive slowdown, athletes seeking better recovery and endurance, anyone wanting a broad antioxidant + B-complex + mitochondrial-cofactor base, longevity-focused users.
Pairs well with
- Methylene Blue - mitochondrial stack; MB acts as an electron-transport-chain electron cycler while Mitomax supplies cofactors and antioxidants. [Practitioner]
- Epitalon - anti-aging combo: nuclear/telomere axis (Epitalon) + bioenergetic/antioxidant axis (Mitomax)
- Ultromega - fat-soluble actives (tocopherols, R-ALA) absorb better with an omega-3-rich fatty meal; cardiometabolic stack with independent evidence on each side. [Practitioner]
- Synerg Mag - every ATP molecule is functionally Mg-ATP. Mg²⁺ coordinates phosphate groups; without Mg, ATP cannot bind hexokinase, F1-ATPase, kinases, ATPases. Any mitochondrial protocol is rate-limited by Mg adequacy. Malate component feeds Krebs directly. [Clinical biochemistry]
- TB4 Frag - comprehensive recovery for older athletes (TB4 builds tissue; Mitomax fuels its mitochondrial capacity)
Dosing
Haven recommended (label protocol)
- 2 to 4 capsules per day (serving size is 4 capsules; back panel allows 2–4). Take with food; the fat-soluble actives (mixed tocopherols, R-ALA, vitamins A/D) absorb better with a meal.
- The B-complex and ALCAR are mildly energizing for some users, so AM/midday is reasonable if evening alertness is a concern.
Practitioner-directed [Practitioner]
- This is a comprehensive multi, not a single-active product - it largely replaces a separate B-complex/antioxidant base rather than stacking on top of one. Watch total intake if the patient is already on a multivitamin (additive B-vitamins, selenium, zinc, iodine, vitamin A/D).
- ALCAR (500 mg/serving) is mildly stimulating; dose AM or midday in sleep-sensitive patients.
- NAC (600 mg/serving) and R-ALA benefits accrue with consistent daily use.
Cautions / contraindications
- EGCG (green tea extract) - only 40 mg here, but counsel patients not to stack multiple green-tea-extract products (EFSA flagged ≥800 mg EGCG/day from supplements as a hepatotoxicity signal).
- ALCAR + seizure threshold - weak signal; caution in active epilepsy.
- ALCAR + bipolar/mania - mildly stimulating; cautious use in bipolar, avoid in active mania.
- ALCAR + hypothyroidism - Benvenga 2001 (PMID 11502782): L-carnitine can antagonize thyroid hormone at the nuclear receptor. Caution in hypothyroid patients on replacement; monitor TSH.
- Iodine + autoimmune thyroid - 37 mcg is a small dose, but note in iodine-sensitive Hashimoto's/Graves' patients.
- Additive multivitamin intake - contains selenium, zinc, iodine, and fat-soluble vitamins A/D; avoid double-dosing with another multi to stay under upper limits.
- NAC - very safe generally; rare GI upset. Theoretical additive vasodilation/headache with nitroglycerin.
- Pregnancy/lactation - default avoid unless specifically indicated and supervised (high-potency B-complex + botanicals).
